Bunnings Fundraising a Success

The Club held a sausage sizzle stand at Bunnings Maribyrnong on Sunday and it was a huge success. The Club raised a great amount of money and we sold hundreds of sausages.

A big thank you go to the volunteers who manned the stand throughout the day and assisted in the preparations, including Kathy Glass, Darija Ragg, Bec Fitzgerald, Nicole Stewart, Steven Linforth, John O’Rielly, Aaron Sharpe, Anthony Guccione and Tim Benton.

A special thank you to our Treasurer Kat Glass who organised the whole event who worked tirelessly throughout the process.

Christmas Party to be held on Sunday 8th December

The annual Doutta Galla Tennis Club Christmas Party is to be held on Saturday 8th December 2018 from 6:30pm.
 
Club Championships Finals matches will be played throughout the day. Trophies and other awards, including the Juniors Presentation, will be presented in the evening.
 
A BBQ, light snacks, beer and some soft drink will be provided. Please bring a salad or dessert. BYO wine, meat or anything else.

Doutta Galla Fundraising at Bunnings Maribyrnong this Sunday

The Club is raising funds by holding a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Maribyrnong (Highpoint) this Sunday from 9am.

Working Bee to be held on Sunday 21st October

The Club will hold its Annual Working Bee on Sunday 21st October from 12pm to 3pm.

All are welcome to help perform key maintenance on the Club and ensure it stays beautiful for another 12 months.

Financial Adult and Family Members that attend are entitled to receive their $40 Maintenance Levy.

NSJTA and NSLTA Autumn 2018 Semi Finals Update

The NSJTA and NSLTA seasons have reached the finals and the Club had several teams make the finals recently:

  • The Ladies Section 3 team were unfortunately defeated in the Semi Final against Glenroy.
  • The Juniors C Grade 3 Team were defeated in their Semi Final by Delahey.
  • The Juniors C Reserve 4 Team defeated Royal Park in their Semi Final. The team play Essendon / Keilor at Airport West today.

  • The Juniors C Reserve 5 Team defeated Keilor East in their Semi Final. They Green Gully at Airport West today.

Good luck to the Junior Teams in their Finals today and well done to all teams who made the Finals.

Annual General Meeting for 2018 is this Sunday

The Club’s Annual General Meeting is to be held on Sunday 17th June at 7:30pm at the Club house.

The Meeting will involve a summary of the year within the Club as well as any business for the coming year. The Committee as well as office bearers for the 2018 / 2019 year will also be nominated.

All Members are welcome to attend the AGM. If any Members are unable to attend and wish for a topic to be discussed, you are welcome to send the Club an Email and we will place your topic on the agenda.

Night and Saturday Afternoon Team Registration Due Soon

The registration of players for the Spring Seasons of Night Tennis and Saturday Afternoon Tennis is due very soon, with registrations closing on Tuesday 12th June at 5pm.

If you wish to play next season please register your interest by sending the Club an Email or writing your name on the sign up sheets in the Club House.

Autumn Finals Update

The Autumn competitions are now entering the Finals series. The following finals are coming up this week:

  • The B Grade 1 Wednesday Night Mixed team play Greenvale at Oak Park on Wednesday.
  • The C Reserve 4 Thursday Night Mens team play Deer Park at Hume on Thursday.

Recently the Mens Singles / Doubles Saturday Afternoon season finished and the following were the results:

  • The Mens A Grade Saturday Afternoon team recently played the Grand Final and lost by 7 games to Glencairn.
  • The Mens A Reserve Saturday Afternoon team lost their Semi Final by 10 games to Keon Park.

Please note that the Club are hosting the Ladies finals on Tuesday 22nd May (Ladies C Special 1 Semi Final) and Tuesday 29th May (Ladies C Reserve 3 Grand Final).

Named Pavers Available for Purchase

The Committee is organising another opportunity to purchase Pavers to be named and displayed within the Club as a lasting record of your valued support of the Club.

The Pavers will be permanently installed on the wall out the back of the Club on the Decking proudly showing your donation.

Open Day is on Saturday 10th February

The Club is holding an Open Day on Saturday 10th February 2018 from 12pm to 4pm, everyone is welcome to attend to have a try of tennis and join in the fun. All ages from kids to adults are welcome.

There will be:

  • A free BBQ
  • Face painting
  • Ball Machine
  • Serve Radar
  • Giveaways and Show Bags
  • Raffle and Auction
  • And the chance to meet Chris Guccione – two time Olympian and Pro Tennis Player

As a part of the Open Day promotion every new Player’s first Group Lesson is free with Guccione Tennis.
