The club’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday the 10th of July at 7:30pm in the clubhouse.

Congratulations to the club’s C Special 3 Mens team who won their Grand Final on Thursday Night. The team, consisting of Simon Philpot, John Bevan, Clinton Shimmin and James Foster defeater Merlynston 32 games to 21. The team won every set throughout the night, with the last set being called off due to lights failing at Essendon. However, the match was well beyond doubt by then. All players performed well all season and the win was well deserved.
Well done to the entire team from the Committee and the entire club.
The first week of the NSNTA Autumn 2011 Finals series is complete, with the Club’s Mens C Special 3 Team winning their semi final.
The team, consisting of Simon Philpot, John Bevan, Clinton Shimmin and James Foster defeated Maribyrnong 29 games to 27. After a slow start losing the first two sets, the team finished strongly, winning three of the next four games. They play Merlynston at Essendon next Thursday.
Unfortunately, the B Special 1 Mens team were defeated by Buckley Park 32 games to 25. Despite only winning one set for the night, the team played very well against high quality opposition.
Good luck to the C Special 3 team for next week.
The registrations for the next NSNTA season are closing soon. If you have not placed your name, or know of someone who has not placed their name, on the list in the clubhouse, please contact the club via email as soon as possible.
Competition commences on the 9th of August for Ladies, 11th of August for Mens and 17th of August for Mixed.
There are only two Doutta Galla teams playing in the NSNTA finals series for the Autumn 2011 Season, both Mens teams.
The Mens B Special 1 team will play the top of the ladder Buckley Park at Strathmore on Thursday Night.
The Mens C Special 3 team, who finished third on the ladder, will play Maribyrnong Park as Sydenham on Thursday Night as well.
Commiserations to teams who did not make finals this year and good luck to the above Mens Teams.
Due to events around the club of late, the committee has decided to move our yearly working bee forward a few months.
The Working Bee will be held on Saturday the 21st of May from 12pm. As always, those that attend are entitled to receive their Maintenance Levy Back.
(NOTE: If you attended the working bee last year in October and collected your maintenance levy, you cannot receive it again. Of course those who did not attend in October can still receive their maintenance levy).
The committee would very much appreciate as much help as possible. Any gardening tools that can be brought along as well would be beneficial.
We hope to see everyone there.
The club is looking for players interested in playing in the upcoming NSTA and Pennant seasons.
NSTA is played on Saturday afternoons across the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. Matches start at 1pm, for the mixed competition two ladies and two men play three sets each match. Teams are due in by the 31st of March.
Pennant is played on either Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings or afternoons. Four players play each week in matches across greater Melbourne. Matches alternate each week between singles and doubles.Teams are due in by the 8th of February.
Anyone who is interested should sign up on the Notice board in the clubhouse or reply to this email with your details.

Congratulations to our two Mens teams who won both their Grand Finals last Thursday.
Our Mens C Grade 3 Team, consisting of Phillip McLennan, David Cornell, Simon Philpot and Mick Krummins as well as Maurice Wu, James Wu and Nick Whitlock defeated Deer Park 28 games to 21 at Essendon.
The Mens B Grade 1 Team, consisting of Aleks Nawrocki, Tim Benton, Kieran Benton and Trevor Peters as well as Russell Bedggood, Liam Benton, Michael Benton, Terry Benton and Rob Temple defeated Buckley Park 36 games to 10 at Westmeadows. The team flew out of the blocks to have an early lead after the first two sets and continued their form through the next few, dominating despite a great effort by Buckley Park. The team was 14 games up going into the last two sets and they were not played as they were dead rubbers. Congratulations to the entire team and to all who came and supported the team on the night.

The annual Doutta Galla Tennis Club Christmas Party is on this Saturday the 11th of December from 6.30pm.
A BBQ and some nibbles will be provided by the club as well as some Beer, but please BYO Wine and other drinks. It is appreciated if everyone could please bring a plate to share.
Of course, bring your tennis racquet along for a hit.
