Club Championships Expression of Interest

The club is looking to get an expression of interest from members who would like to be involved in this years club championships.

We would like to encourage all members to get involved, especially our group of juniors.

We are not specifying dates/times yet but we are looking to try to isolate events into singles days or evenings to make it a lot easier for those involved.

We are also looking to hold the junior events on possibly the day of the Clubs Christmas party , for something different.

NSNTA Autumn 2016 Semi-Finals Update

The Semi Finals of the NSNTA were played last week and one of the two of the Club’s Semi Finalists made it to the Grand Final:

  • The Men’s B Special 1 Team defeated OLN by two games last week, 31 to 29. It was a close match and the team, consisting of Aaron Sharpe, Greg Forbes, Walter Wagner and Ben White, fought hard all night. The team will play Caroline Springs at Strathmore this Thursday 26th May. All are welcome to cheer the team on.
  • The Men’s C Special 4 Team were defeated by Essendon by seven games last week, 24 to 31. The Team of Clinton Shimmin, Steven Linforth, John Bevan and Jesse Gilpin (with James Foster filling in for the last set) were close but finished a few of games short.

Doutta Galla Tennis and Bowling Clubs Open Day

The Doutta Galla Tennis and Bowling Clubs are holding an Open Day on 7th February 2016 where anyone can come and try tennis, lawn bowls or both.

The Clubs will be open from from 12pm to 5pm for the day.

At the Tennis Club, you come and try:

  • Tennis Hot Shots
  • Cardio Tennis
  • Measure your Server Speed
  • Coaching and free play
  • A free BBQ

At the Bowlinlg Club you can come and try:

  • Bare foot bowls
  • Lessons and tips
  • A free BBQ
  • Bar facilities available

If you or someone you know is curious and interested in learning Tennis or Lawn Bowls please encourage them to come along and try it out.

Open Day 2016

Christmas Party next Saturday

The Club’s Christmas Party is scheduled for Saturday the 5th of December from 6:30pm at the Club House. All Members are welcome to attend for a final catch up before the end of the year.

Also on the night the Club Champions will be presented with their trophies and there will be a Juniors Presentation for the Junior teams.

The Club will provide a barbecue along with some beer and snacks. Members are asked to bring their own Wine, Soft Drink or any other drinks as well as a plate to share. A racquet would also be handy if you want to have a hit.

The committee looks forward to seeing everyone there.

Please note that the Veterans Mixed Doubles is scheduled for Saturday 28th November at 2pm and is open to all members over the age of 40 (or close enough, we won’t ask).

Club Championships 2015 – Entries now open

Entries are now open for the Doutta Galla 2015 Club Championships:

  • Entries Close on Thursday 12th November
  • Draws and Schedules are published on Friday 13th November in the Club House and on DouttaGalla.com
  • Matches commence on Sunday 15th November
  • All Grand Finals are held on Sunday 29th November, with the trophies presented to the winners at the Club Christmas Party on Saturday 5th December.

Entries can be submitted by writing your name on the entry sheet in the Club House or sending the Club an Email.

The Club Championships are a great event for Members of all ages and skill levels. The following Events will be held:

  • Mens Singles
  • Ladies Singles
  • Boys Singles
  • Girls Singles
  • Mens Graded Doubles
  • Ladies Graded Doubles
  • Mixed Graded Doubles
  • Boys Graded Doubles
  • Girls Graded Doubles
  • Junior Round Robin Doubles
  • Veteran’s (45+) Round Robin Doubles

All Members are encouraged to enter, especially Juniors who are welcome to enter Seniors Events to show the Seniors how Tennis is played these days. The Doubles Events are graded to ensure a tight match.

Annual General Meeting and Members Survey

The Club’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday the 19th of July from 7:30pm at the Club.

The Meeting will involve a summary of the year within the Club as well as any business for the coming year. The Committee as well as office bearers for the 2015 / 2016 year will also be nominated.

The results of the Club’s Members Survey will also be presented. Please remember to complete this Survey if you wish to and haven’t already as this will greatly help the Committee in planning for the next year. All comments and results will be presented at the Annual General Meeting. The survey can be found at http://goo.gl/forms/FMSsVl7yuQ

All Members are welcome to attend the AGM. If any Members are unable to attend and wish for a topic to be discussed, you are welcome to send the Club an Email and we will place your topic on the agenda.

Working Bee this Sunday

Just a reminder that the Club’s Working Bee is to be held this Sunday the 19th of October from 12pm at the Club. Members that attend and assist are entitled to receive their Maintenance Levy back from the Club.

Any gardening tools that you can bring would be greatly appreciated as there is much to do.
