Team entries for the Autumn 2022 Season are now open

The Team Entries are now open for the Autumn 2022 Seasons of the various competitions which are due to commence in February.

To register your interest please contact your Team’s Captain or the Senior Selection Committee via Email. Entries close Tuesday 23 November 2021. Please note that all Senior Players must be fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus to play in the Autumn 2022 competitions. For more information about vaccination requirements please refer to each Competition Association’s Web Site.

Spring 2021 Seasons Cancelled

Unfortunately due to the extended lockdown due to the Coronavirus the Spring Seasons for all Competitions has been cancelled.

The NSNTA, NSJTA and NSLTA have all cancelled the Spring 2021 Seasons. Team entries will be open later in the year for the Autumn 2022 Seasons.

Autumn Finals Update

Commiserations to the Mens B Special 3 Team who were narrowly defeated in last Thursday’s Grand Final by four games. After a slow start to the match the team, consisting of Aleks, Michael, Warren and Greg, fought back and worried the team from Royal Park on a freezing cold night. Well done to the team for a great season.

The Semi Finals for the NSLTA have been announced with the Section 5 Team playing Keilor at home. The date for this match is to be confirmed due to the current lockdown, however it is currently scheduled for Thursday 10th June.

The Finals in the Juniors have yet to be announced due to the current lockdown.

NSNTA Semi Finals Update

The first week of the NSNTA Semi Finals have been completed and the Club has one team that has progressed to the Grand Final:

  • The Mens B Special 3 team, consisting of Michael, Warren, Tim and Greg, defeated Royal Park by a single game. They play Royal Park at Merlynston in the Grand Final on Thursday night.

The following teams also played their Semi Finals last week:

  • The Ladies B Special 2 team, consisting of Ashley, Nicole, Jan and Tracey, lost to St. Monica’s by 6 games.
  • The Ladies C Reserve 2 team, consisting of Denise, Elizabeth, Connie and Darija, lost to Oak Park by 27 games.
  • The Mens B Grade 2 team, consisting of Will, Steven, Liam and Rod, lost to Gladstone Park by 4 games.
  • The Mens C Special 2 team, consisting of Andrew, Trevor, Liam and Russell, lost to Hume by 10 games.

Please note that the A Reserve 1 Mixed Team are scheduled to host the Grand Final this Wednesday 26 May.

Well done to all teams who made the finals and good luck to the Mens team playing their grand final on Thursday.

NSNTA Semi Finals Announced

With the NSNTA regular season coming to a close the Finals Fixture has been announced. The Club has 5 teams playing in finals this week:

  • The Ladies B Special 2 team play St. Monica’s at Strathmore on Tuesday night.
  • The Ladies C Reserve 2 team play Oak Park at Tullamarine on Tuesday night.
  • The Mens B Special 3 team play Maribyrnong Park at Sydenham on Thursday night.
  • The Mens B Grade 2 team play Gladstone Park at Sunbury on Thursday night.
  • The Mens C Special 2 team play Hume at Craigieburn on Thursday night.

Please note that the A Reserve 1 Mixed Team are scheduled to host the Grand Final on Wednesday 26 May.

Recommencing Local Competitions and entries for next Season

Due to the lowering of restrictions announced recently from the Victorian Government the local Tennis Competitions are due to recommence soon. The following is an update on each competition:

NSNTA – Night Tennis

The NSNTA has cancelled the Autumn 2020 Season and the Association is in the process of planning for the Spring 2020 season, which is proposed to commence on the following dates in August:

  • Ladies – Tuesday, 4th August 2020
  • Mixed – Wednesday, 12th August 2020
  • Men’s – Thursday, 6th August 2020

The Club will re-submit Teams for the upcoming season, so if you wish to play please register your interest with your team’s captain or contact the Committee by Monday 29th June.

NSJTA – Juniors Tennis

The NSJTA has cancelled the Autumn 2020 Season and the Association is preparing to commence the Spring 2020 Season on Friday 17 / Saturday 18 July 2020. The Age Limit has been temporarily extended, so any player who is 18 or under as at 30 June 2020 can play in Season 2, 2020.

The Junior Selection Committee has been in contact with the Juniors regarding the teams for next season and the same teams will be submitted with known changes as discussed with the relevant players.

NSLTA – Thursday Ladies

The NSLTA will combine the Autumn and Spring Seasons into one Season and recommence play from Round 6, which is due to recommence from Thursday 20th August 2020. An updated fixture will then be published.

NSTA – Saturday Tennis

The NSTA has cancelled the Autumn 2020 Season and the Spring 2020 Season is due to commence Saturday August 29th for a 10 week season.

The Club will re-submit Teams for the upcoming season, so if you wish to play please register your interest with your team’s captain or contact the Committee by Friday 10th July.

Pennant

Tennis Victoria’s Pennant is due to commence on Saturday 11 July for the 2020 season.

We are all looking forward for competition to start again, so if you have any questions you are welcome to contact the Committee anytime and we are happy to answer them.

Coronavirus – Suspension of NSNTA Competitions

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the NSNTA has suspended the competition until further notice.

The NSNTA released the following statement:

After consultation with clubs, the NSNTA Management Committee has decided to suspend immediately all competition matches until further notice.

This decision has been made to proactively ensure the health and well-being of all players. We appreciate the understanding of all clubs and players during this unprecedented situation, which is changing regularly as more information becomes available and containment measures are implemented.

We will update clubs when it is deemed safe and viable for the competition to resume.

Competition Update due to the Coronavirus Pandemic

With the affects of the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe, the local Tennis Associations are reviewing competition. Here is the latest from each Association:

NSTA – Saturday Afternoons

The NSTA has suspended play from Saturday March 14th until further notice.

All matches not played during this period will be treated as washouts with each team awarded 2 points.

The N.S.T.A. will monitor the situation weekly and will alert clubs as soon as the committee’s position changes.

NSJTA – Juniors

The NSJTA has suspended play from Saturday 14th March until further notice.

NSNTA – Weeknights

The NSNTA has issued a statement to Clubs via Email:

The NSNTA Management Committee is aware of growing concern in the community about the coronavirus disease (COVID 19). The safety of players and parents in our competition is a priority and we will act in accordance with official advice issued by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and federal health agencies as the situation develops.

If any players are (potentially affected by coronavirus), we request that they … do not attend or participate in the NSNTA competition until the conclusion of the 14-day isolation period. We also request clubs ask players not to participate in matches if they have symptoms

NSNTA competition matches will proceed as normal for the time being.

Spring Grand Final Results

The Club had many teams playing in Grand Finals over the past two weeks:

  • The Tuesday Night Ladies C Reserve 3 team defeated St. Vincent’s by two games. Congratulations to the team consisting of Denise, Elizabeth, Darija and Debbie with Shruti and Emma also playing throughout the season.
  • The Thursday Ladies Section 5 team defeated Avondale Heights by 18 games and advance to the grand final this Thursday against St Monica’s.
  • The Tuesday Night Ladies B Reserve 2 team were defeated by St. Vincent’s by five games. Commiserations to the team consisting of Kathy, Nicole, Carolyn and Rebecca with Kathryn, Maureen and Dianne also playing throughout the season.
  • The A Reserve 1 Juniors team lost to Moomba Park by six games. Commiserations to the team of Marie, Emily, Eleanor, Paramita, Divya, Campbell, Joshua, James and Kai.
  • The B Grade 1 Juniors team lost to Hillside by 12 games. Commiserations to the team of Ashley, Claudia, Christina, Lachlan, Finley, Dylan and James.
  • The D Special 1 Juniors team lost to Essendon by 24 games. Commiserations to the team of Dion, Prajiet, Arya, John, Finnegan and Ishaan.
  • The D Special 2 Juniors team lost to Strathmore by five games. Commiserations to the team of Joshua, Oren, Tomorrowlands, Gus and Saskia.

Good luck to the Thursday Ladies team in the grand final and thanks to all teams for playing this year.
