Christmas Party scheduled for Saturday 13th December

It’s the most wonderful time of our year, and we’re hosting a Christmas Party to celebrate.

The Club’s annual Christmas Party will be held on Saturday 13th December from 6pm at the Club.

The Club Championships Finals will be held on the day and at the Party there will be the Club’s Award Presentations for the year, including the Junior Team Medallions presented.

A Barbeque, Soft Drinks and some Beer and Wine will be provided. We ask that you please bring a salad, dessert or anything else you would like to share.

We hope to see everyone there.

Club Championships for 2025 Announced

The Club’s Annual Club Championships have been announced and will be held during late November, early December with the finals to be played on Saturday 13th December.

The format will include the following events, if there is enough interest:

  • Mens Singles
  • Ladies Singles
  • Boys Singles
  • Girls Singles
  • Mens Doubles
  • Ladies Doubles
  • Mixed Doubles
  • Juniors Singles Round Robin

Tim Benton awarded Life Membership

For the past 13 years, Tim Benton has been a huge part of the Doutta Galla Tennis Club’s administration. As Secretary, his dedication, professionalism, and eye for detail have helped shape the club into the well-organised, welcoming community it is today.

Beyond his official duties, Tim has been the driving force behind our digital presence – building, managing, and maintaining the club’s website to keep members informed and connected.

His contribution extends far beyond the paperwork; Tim’s influence has touched every part of the club’s growth and success.

We’re proud to recognise his outstanding service with Life Membership of the Doutta Galla Tennis Club.

Working Bee is on this Sunday

A reminder that the Club’s Annual Working Bee is scheduled to be held this Sunday 12 October, from 12pm to 3pm.

All are welcome to help perform key maintenance on the Club and ensure it stays beautiful for another 12 months.

Financial Adult and Family Members that attend are entitled to receive their $40 Maintenance Levy.

Any gardening equipment, wheelbarrows, shovels and cleaning equipment you could bring would be most helpful.

Pennant Finals Update

The Club’s Pennant Team recently played in the first round of the Finals and were defeated by Essendon in a very close match. The Team, consisting of Warren, Ben, Tim, Clinton and Steven and won both doubles sets and fought hard in the singles. Essendon’s singles game was too strong, with them winning all four rubbers – three of the four in match tie breaks in lieu of a third set.

The Committee congratulates the team for making the finals and thanks everyone who played in the team for a great season.

Annual General Meeting is on this Sunday

The Committee is holding the Club’s Annual General Meeting this Sunday 15 June 2025 at 7:30pm at the Club.

The Meeting will involve a summary of the year within the Club as well as any other business for the coming year. The Committee as well as office bearers for the 2025/2026 year will also be nominated.

All Members are welcome to attend the AGM. If any Members are unable to attend and wish for a topic to be discussed, you are welcome to send the Club an Email and we will place your topic on the agenda.

NSNTA Grand Final and NSJTA Semi Final Updates

The NSNTA Grand Finals were played for the Autumn 2025 Season last week and the Club’s Mens B Special 3 team were narrowly defeated by Craigieburn at St. Therese’s in a very close match. The Team, consisting of Tim, Warren, Wally and Kieran with Ben in reserve, were up early but Craigieburn stormed home. The team wishes to thank all those that supported the team on the night in what was a very strong Doutta Galla presence in the stands.

The NSJTA’s Semi Finals are also played this week, with the Club having three teams play finals:

  • The A Grade 2 Boys Combined team with Airport West play Hume on Friday night at Airport West.
  • The A Reserve 2 Boys play Maribyrnong Park on Friday night at home.
  • The B Reserve 1 Unisex team play Gladstone Park on Saturday morning at Glencairn.

The Committee wishes to congratulate the Mens B Special 3 team on their season and wishes the Junior teams luck in their finals this weekend. We thank all Juniors teams for playing this season.
