The Committee will advise when the court is available again. Please contact the Committee if you have any questions.

The Club’s Christmas Party is scheduled for Saturday the 5th of December from 6:30pm at the Club House. All Members are welcome to attend for a final catch up before the end of the year.

Letter from the President

It sad to have to report the passing of a former member and 2003 Junior boys club champion in Michael Hennessy. Unfortunately Michael was involved in a motor vehicle accident late last week and we wish the best to his family and friends.

Michael was always a happy and likable person and had great friendships with all the other juniors and members he played tennis with at the club. Michael was also an assistant coach at the club for a number of years. While Michael hadn’t been involved with the club for a number of years, as a former member and club champion, I feel its warranted for us to pay our respects. Such a sad story.

The Club’s Working Bee will be held on Sunday the 25th of October at 1pm. The Committee asks that as many members as possible attend to help maintain the Club and keep our Club beautiful.

Annual General Meeting and Membership Survey Results

The Club’s Annual General Meeting was held recently and the following topics were discussed:

Committee

The Club’s Committee will continue with the same members as the previous year, with Aaron Sharpe as President, Anthony Guccione as Vice President, Kathryn Glass as Treasurer, Tim Benton as Secretary, and Dianne Linforth, Kathy Glass, Steven Linforth and John O’Rielly as the General Committee.

Racism. It Stops with Me

The Club recently attended the Racism. It Stops with me. workshop held by the Moonee Valley City Council highlighting how racism is still present in our community. The campaign launched by the Australian Human Rights Commission, aims to:
1. Ensure more Australians recognise that racism is unacceptable in our community
2. Give more Australians the tools & resources to take practical action against racism
3. Empower individuals & organisations to prevent & respond effectively to racism
The Club has joined the fight and encourages all of our members to speak up against racism in all its forms.
For more information on the Racism. It Stops with me. campaign please visit their website at https://itstopswithme.humanrighs.gov.au

Members Survey
The Club’s Members Survey was completed by many members and it gave the Committee a great deal of information about Members and their priorities and needs. The results of the Survey are presented in Membership Survey Results, and as a result of this survey and feedback from Members the Club will implement the following initiatives and address the following items:

  • Social Tennis – Many members commented that the Club should organise more Social Tennis events as it allows members to get together for some fun, promotes a more community environment and allows members to meet some other members. The Club will organise some Social Tennis afternoons or evenings during October and November, with the proposed days being either Sunday afternoon or Wednesday nights.
  • Parking at the Club – A few members commented that parking at the Club is an issue. The Club has been working with the Moonee Valley City Council for many years to address the availability of parking. The Committee will continue this discussion to find a solution.

Annual General Meeting and Members Survey

The Club’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday the 19th of July from 7:30pm at the Club.

The Meeting will involve a summary of the year within the Club as well as any business for the coming year. The Committee as well as office bearers for the 2015 / 2016 year will also be nominated.

The results of the Club’s Members Survey will also be presented. Please remember to complete this Survey if you wish to and haven’t already as this will greatly help the Committee in planning for the next year. All comments and results will be presented at the Annual General Meeting. The survey can be found at http://goo.gl/forms/FMSsVl7yuQ

All Members are welcome to attend the AGM. If any Members are unable to attend and wish for a topic to be discussed, you are welcome to send the Club an Email and we will place your topic on the agenda.
