Open Day is on this Sunday 6th February

The Doutta Galla Tennis Club’s annual Open Day is on Sunday 6th February from 10am to 4pm. Everyone and anyone is welcome to come down to the Club, have a hit with the coach and play some tennis – all for free.

The Club is hosting:

  • Hot Shots for the Kids
  • Casual Play
  • Free Coaching
  • Speed Serving
  • Hit the Target competitions
  • And much more

NSNTA Season Commences Next Week

The NSNTA Autumn Season is commencing in the first week of February, with the following competitions starting next week:

  • Ladies – Tuesday 1 February 2022
  • Mixed – Wednesday 2 February 2022
  • Mens – Thursday 3 February 2022

The fixtures have been published are are available on the NSNTA’s Web Site.

The NSNTA’s Autumn 2022 COVIDSafe guidelines can be downloaded here. The key points are:

  • All players and spectators must check-in for each match.
  • Clubrooms are subject to density limits and toilets are to be available.
  • Supper is not required to be provided and should not be expected

As per Victorian Government guidelines players are generally not required to to be vaccinated to play competitive community sport. Players are required to be vaccinated to have supper. If Home Teams choose to provider supper the Home Team’s captain for the night should ensure that all players are vaccinated.

Some clubs have additional vaccination requirements that apply to their venue. Please ensure you check this list on the NSNTA’s Website about these Clubs. The current list of Clubs this applies to are:

  • PEGS – All persons 18 years and over, including players, must be fully vaccinated
  • Royal Park – Spectators/visitors aged 18 years and over must be fully vaccinated. Players are not required to be vaccinated.
  • St Therese’s – All persons 18 years and over, including players, must be fully vaccinated

If you are playing at these venues a Team must make sure otherwise they will need to forfeit.

Team entries for the Autumn 2022 Season are now open

The Team Entries are now open for the Autumn 2022 Seasons of the various competitions which are due to commence in February.

To register your interest please contact your Team’s Captain or the Senior Selection Committee via Email. Entries close Tuesday 23 November 2021. Please note that all Senior Players must be fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus to play in the Autumn 2022 competitions. For more information about vaccination requirements please refer to each Competition Association’s Web Site.

Club is now open for Social Play

The Victorian Government this week has permitted Social Tennis and the Club can now be reopened for Social Play. The following is a summary of the conditions:

  • Social Play is permitted for those that are yet to be vaccinated for Singles for two people only from one or two households.
  • Social Play is permitted for those that are vaccinated for Singles or Doubles for up to four players. All must be fully vaccinated or have an official exemption and the players can be from no more than two households. Players must carry proof of vaccination and may be required to present proof of vaccination to an authorised officer of the Victorian Government.
  • Coaching can be held for those that are vaccinated with up to five people plus the Coach. All must be fully vaccinated or have an official exemption. Children under 12 years of age are considered as a fully vaccinated person. Proof of vaccination will be checked by Coaches and will be recorded.
  • Coaching can be held for those that are yet to be vaccinated with two people plus the Coach.
  • Face coverings must be worn when not playing.
  • The Clubhouse is to remain closed, including the Toilets.
  • All Players must check in with the QR Code when entering the Club.

The Book a Court System has been reopened and is open for bookings.

Please note that all Members must be full financial Members for the 2021/2022 Membership Year in order to book a court or use the Courts as a Member.

Spring 2021 Seasons Cancelled

Unfortunately due to the extended lockdown due to the Coronavirus the Spring Seasons for all Competitions has been cancelled.

The NSNTA, NSJTA and NSLTA have all cancelled the Spring 2021 Seasons. Team entries will be open later in the year for the Autumn 2022 Seasons.

Autumn Finals Update and Spring Fixtures Released

Congratulations to the Thursday Ladies Section 5 team who won their grand final recently. The team, consisting of Sophie, Jan, Sue, Karen and Tracy with Aileen playing throughout the season, defeated St. Monica’s 50 games to 36. Well done to the entire team for a great season.

Recently the A Reserve 5 Boys and the C Grade 3 Juniors teams also played in Semi Finals and were unfortunately defeated.

Congratulations to all finalists and thanks to all teams for playing during the season.

Also the fixtures are now available for the NSNTA, NSLTA and NSJTA competitions on the association Web Sites. The starting dates are:

  • The Juniors Competition commences on Friday 16th July / Saturday 17th July.
  • The Thursday Ladies Competition commences on Thursday 22nd July.
  • The NSNTA Ladies Competition commences on Tuesday 3rd August.
  • The NSNTA Mens Competition commences on Thursday 5th August.
  • The NSNTA Mixed Competition commences on Wednesday 11th August.

Membership Renewals through the Book a Court System

The Club is about to send the Membership Renewals for all Members via Email and these may look a little bit different this year.

The Club will look to using the ClubSpark Book a Court System provided by Tennis Australia to process the Memberships. You will receive an Email similar to the example below from “Doutta Galla Tennis Club no-reply@comms.play.tennis.com.au”:

You will need to login to the ClubSpark Book a Court System and follow the prompts to select your Membership renewal. You will be offered a number of methods to make a payment.

Contact Tracing Check In Form

As per Victorian Government Requirements all Visitors to the Club, including Members, Opposition Players, Visitors and Guests , is required to complete the Contract Tracing Check In form when arriving at the Club.

The Committee requests that all Members please make a special effort to complete this check in each time so that in the event of another Coronavirus outbreak Contact Tracers can identify anyone that attended the Club.

The Committee thanks all Members and Visitors for performing these check ins to help the government manage the pandemic.

Annual General Meeting is on this Sunday

The Committee is holding the Club’s Annual General Meeting this Sunday 20 June 2021 at 7:30pm.

The Meeting will involve a summary of the year within the Club as well as any other business for the coming year. The Committee as well as office bearers for the 2021 / 2022 year will also be nominated.

All Members are welcome to attend the AGM. If any Members are unable to attend and wish for a topic to be discussed, you are welcome to send the Club an Email and we will place your topic on the agenda.

Due to social distancing requirements the Meeting will be held via Video Conference. If you wish to attend please contact the Club and we will provide the details for attending the meeting.

Autumn Finals Update

Commiserations to the Mens B Special 3 Team who were narrowly defeated in last Thursday’s Grand Final by four games. After a slow start to the match the team, consisting of Aleks, Michael, Warren and Greg, fought back and worried the team from Royal Park on a freezing cold night. Well done to the team for a great season.

The Semi Finals for the NSLTA have been announced with the Section 5 Team playing Keilor at home. The date for this match is to be confirmed due to the current lockdown, however it is currently scheduled for Thursday 10th June.

The Finals in the Juniors have yet to be announced due to the current lockdown.
