The Club is holding an Open Day on Sunday 9th February 2020 from 10am to 4pm, everyone is welcome to attend to have a try of tennis and join in the fun. All ages from kids to adults are welcome.
The Club had many teams playing in Grand Finals over the past two weeks:
- The Tuesday Night Ladies C Reserve 3 team defeated St. Vincent’s by two games. Congratulations to the team consisting of Denise, Elizabeth, Darija and Debbie with Shruti and Emma also playing throughout the season.
- The Thursday Ladies Section 5 team defeated Avondale Heights by 18 games and advance to the grand final this Thursday against St Monica’s.
- The Tuesday Night Ladies B Reserve 2 team were defeated by St. Vincent’s by five games. Commiserations to the team consisting of Kathy, Nicole, Carolyn and Rebecca with Kathryn, Maureen and Dianne also playing throughout the season.
- The A Reserve 1 Juniors team lost to Moomba Park by six games. Commiserations to the team of Marie, Emily, Eleanor, Paramita, Divya, Campbell, Joshua, James and Kai.
- The B Grade 1 Juniors team lost to Hillside by 12 games. Commiserations to the team of Ashley, Claudia, Christina, Lachlan, Finley, Dylan and James.
- The D Special 1 Juniors team lost to Essendon by 24 games. Commiserations to the team of Dion, Prajiet, Arya, John, Finnegan and Ishaan.
- The D Special 2 Juniors team lost to Strathmore by five games. Commiserations to the team of Joshua, Oren, Tomorrowlands, Gus and Saskia.

The Doutta Galla Tennis Club’s Christmas Party for 2019 is on tonight, Saturday 7th of December, from 6:30pm.
The Club Championships Trophies and Junior Awards will presented and it’s a great chance to catch up or meet other members of the Club.
The Club will be providing a Barbeque, Drinks and Nibbles. Please BYO Salads, Desserts and anything else you would like to share.
All Members are welcome to attend.
With the NSNTA Semi Finals last week and the NSLTA, NSJTA and NSTA finals commencing as well, the Club has quite a few teams in semi finals and grand finals in the coming week:
In the NSTNA the following teams won their Semi Finals last week and play their Grand Finals tonight:
- The Ladies B Reserve 2 team defeated Essendon and play in the Grand Final tonight at Oak Park.
- The Ladies C Reserve 3 team defeated Keilor and play in the Grand Final tonight at Gladstone Park.
Commiserations to the NSNTA teams that lost their Semi Finals last week:
- The Ladies B Special 2 team lost to Strathmore last Tuesday
- The Mens B Grade 3 team lost to Oak Park on Thursday
In the NSLTA the Section 5 team play a Semi Final against Avondale Heights at St. Monica’s.
In the NSTA:
- The B Grade Mixed team defeated Gladstone Park by a single game and play Maribyrnong Park/Buckley Park at Maribyrnong Park on Saturday.
- The A Grade team were defeated by Maribyrnong Park
- The A Reserve team were defeated by Royal Park.
In the NSJTA we have four teams that played in Semi Finals for four wins, so there will be four teams playing in Grand Finals this weekend:
- The A Reserve 1 team defeated Sydneham and play Moomba Park at Coburg this Friday night
- The B Grade 1 team defeated Avondale Heights and play Hillside at Hume this Saturday
- The D Special 1 team defeated St Christopher’s and play Essendon at Gladstone Park this Saturday
- The D Special 2 team defeated Hume and play Strathmore at Gladstone Park this Saturday

- The Ladies B Special 2 team play Strathmore at Westmeadows on Tuesday night
- The Ladies B Reserve 2 team play Essendon at Taylor’s Lakes on Tuesday night
- The Ladies C Reserve 3 team play Keilor at Buckley Park on Tuesday night
- The Mens B Grade 3 team play Oak Park at Strathmore on Thursday

- Mens C Special 1 Semi Final on Thursday 21st November
- Ladies C Special 2 Grand Final on Tuesday 26th November

With the new format of Club Championships running really smoothly, there are some important changes for those involved in all doubles events in regards to format and timelines.
After seeing how many matches are still needing to play in the round robin, the Club Championship Referees have made the decision to remove semi-finals for some Events and extend the period for round robin matches to occur.
The following Events that are affected:
- Men’s Doubles
- Ladies Doubles
- Mixed Doubles
- Boys Doubles
- Junior Mixed Doubles
For these events the round robin period will be extended until 24th November with only the top two teams moving through to play a grand final during the finals period of 25th November – 7th December.
All Singles events have not altered and still need to be finished by Sunday 10th November where possible.
Please also remember that all fees are to be paid before the end of the tournament. Each fee is payable for each event you are entered in. All fees need to be paid to the Club by either Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or by placing money in the box in the Club House.
- If paying by EFT please put your name and Club Champs or CC in the Reference field.
- If paying in the Club please ensure you name is written on the envelope clearly and include Club Champs.

The Club will hold its Annual Working Bee this Sunday 13th October from 12pm to 3pm.
All are welcome to help perform key maintenance on the Club and ensure it stays beautiful for another 12 months.
Financial Adult and Family Members that attend are entitled to receive their $40 Maintenance Levy.
Any gardening equipment, wheelbarrows, shovels and cleaning equipment you could bring would be most helpful.
Draws Information
The Draws are now available for the Doutta Galla Club Championships for 2019.
The first round of the tournament will follow a Round Robin format, where each player in the draw is to play each other player.
The scheduling of matches is to be arranged between each opponent within the draw. For contact information for a Player please contact the Club and this will be provided.
All Round Robin matches are one set of first to 8 games, with a tie break at 7 all.
Advancing to the Semi Finals will be determined by the number of games won in your event, with player with the highest number of games advancing.
All reasonable attempts need to be made to play the Round Robin matches by Sunday 10th November. Semi Finals will be scheduled from Monday 11th November.
Fees
All fees need to be paid to the Club by either Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or by placing money in the box in the Club House.
If paying by EFT please put your name and Club Champs or CC in the Reference field.
If paying in the Club please ensure you name is written on the envelope clearly and include Club Champs.
Each fee is payable for each event you are entered in.
The following fees are for the 2019 Club Championships:
- Adults Singles Events – $10 per player per event.
- Adults Doubles Events – $20 per pair per event.
- Junior Singles Events – $5 per player per event.
- Junior Singles Events – $10 per pair per event.
