Try Tennis for Free at our Club Open Day

The Doutta Galla Tennis Club’s Open Day will be on Sunday the 20th of January 2013 from 12pm onwards. The Open Day is a great chance to visit the club, have a hit with our Coaches and learn more about the great game of Tennis. Free Tennis Lessons, Activities and a BBQ will be available and everyone is welcome, especially those who are not members of the Club.

This event is great for Kids and Adults alike who are thinking of picking up tennis and are not sure where to start.

The Doutta Galla Bowling Club will also be holding an Open Day during the same time, all are welcome to try both sports.

Christmas Party this Saturday

The Doutta Galla Christmas Party will be held this Saturday the 15th of December from 6pm at the Clubhouse.  A BBQ will be provided but please bring your own Drinks, Snacks and Racquets. Please also bring a Plate to share. The Committee hopes to see everyone there for what will be a great night.

Grand Final Results

Doutta Galla had three teams playing in Grand Finals this week and two have been victorious and won their matches:

The Mens B Special 4 Team on Thursday night defeated Tullamarine by only 1 game at Strathmore. The Team consisted of David Shaw, Will Egan, Russell Bedggood and Robert Temple played on the night, with Michael Benton, Terry Benton and Simon Philpot supporting the players. This team also won their Semi Final by one game from 4th on the Ladder. Both Tullamarine and Doutta Galla played in very hot conditions and played very well in a very, very close match.

The Mixed B Reserve Team on Saturday afternoon defeated Green Gully by 14 games at home. The team consisted of Sophie McCann, Tracey Mamey, Trevor Peters and Clinton Shimmin with Annette Mann, Karen Relf and Will Egan lending their support and were undefeated all season.

The Mens A Reserve Team on Saturday were unfortunately defeated by Merlynston by 12 games. The team consisted of Michael Mann, Warren Peters, Aaron Sharpe and Tim Benton played well but Merlynston were too strong.

Congratulations to all the winning teams and thanks to all players for a great season.

 

 

Finals Update

The first week of both the NSTA and NSNTA finals is complete and the Club has three teams in Grand Finals this week:

The Mens B Special 4 Team consisting of David Shaw, Russell Bedggood, Will Egan and Rob Temple defeated West Brunswick by 1 game. They will play Tullamarine at Strathmore on Thursday Night.

The Mixed B Reserve Team consisting of Karen Relf, Sophie McCann, Trevor Peters and Will Egan defeated Tullamarine / Gladstone Park by 21 games. They play Green Gully at Doutta Galla on Saturday Afternoon.

The Mens A Reserve (Saturday) consisting of Warren Peters, Michael Mann and Tim Benton defeated Avondale Heights by 12 games. They will play Merlynston at Merlynston on Saturday Afternoon.

Unfortunately our two other teams in the finals lost their Semi Finals:

The Ladies C Special 1 Team consisting of Sue Duras, Maree Robertson, Marion Wensor and Virginia Glassford were narrowly defeated by Merlynston by 2 games.

The Mens B Special 1 Team consisting of Walter Wagner, Warren Peters, Jason Jacobi and Tim Benton were defeated by Tullamarine by 13 games.

Commiserations to those who were defeated last week and the Club wishes all Grand Finalists luck for this week.

 

NSTA Spring Semi Finals

The Saturday Afternoon NSTA Competition Season for Spring 2012 has finished and the Semi Finals are to be played this Saturday. Doutta Galla has both of our teams in the Finals this week:

The Mixed B Reserve Team finished on top of the latter and will play the Tullamarine / Gladstone Park combined team at home on Saturday.

The Mens Singles A Reserve team finished fourth will play Avondale Heights at Avondale Heights on Saturday.

The Club wishes both Teams luck for the Semi Finals. As Saturday Competition awards home finals for higher placed teams, any spectators are welcome to visit the club to support our Teams.

NSNTA Spring Season Semi Finals

The NSNTA Spring 2012 Competition is drawing to a close with the Semi Finals being played this week. The Club has 3 teams participating in the finals this week:

The C Special 1 Ladies Team will play Merlynston at Essendon on Tuesday night.

The B Special 1 Mens Team will play Tullamarine at Greenvale on Thursday Night.

The B Special 4 Mens Team will play West Brunswick at Moomba Park on Thursday Night.

The Committee thanks all players for playing this season and we wish all luck for the finals.

Entries for 2013 Competitions Close Soon

Entries for the Autumn 2013 Seasons for the NSTA (Saturday Afternoons), NSNTA (Weeknights) and NSJTA (Junior Weekends) close very soon. If you are interested in playing competition next year, please place your name and details on the signup sheets in the clubhouse or send the club an email with your name, contact number and previous experience.

NSTA
The NSTA is played on a Saturday Afternoon commencing in February. There are various different formats available for the Club to submit teams, including Mixed, Mens Doubles and Mens Singles & Doubles. Entries close  on Friday the 30th November.

NSNTA
The NSNTA is played on Tuesday (Ladies), Wednesday (Mixed) and Thursday (Mens) nights commencing in February. Entries close on Sunday the 18th November.

NSJTA
The NSJTA is a Juniors competition played on Saturday mornings with some grades playing on a Friday Night. Entries close incredibly soon, if you have not registered your interest please email the club immediately.
